Comment: River Wilderness has both pluses and minuses. The lay-out is great, interesting and challenging, with no holes being the same. The staff is very friendly and helpful -- really nice people. There are multiple tee boxes to accommodate golfers of all levels. The price, especially with the Big Summer Card is a great value. The fairways are in decent shape, as are the tee boxes. The greens were very spotty, play slowly; they were generally disappointing. The rough is rough. The sand traps are excellent. There were a lot of staff working on the course. There were many areas marked off for work to be done, both on the greens and in the fairways. This is a course in progress.

Comment: I LOVE Bonnie, at the Club!! She is the best! She greets you with a great smile, friendly conversation, and awesome service! I have only tried a few menu items (burgers and Reuben sandwiches), both of which I love. The burger is very good quality meat and the reuben was prepared perfectly! They mixed together...the dressing, pastrami and sauerkraut...placed between 2 toasted pieces of rye, and then grilled the sandwich. Pure deliciousness...thank you RW Chef!

Comment: River Wilderness, compared to other Florida west coast golf courses I have played, is a gem. Playing at close to 7000 yards from the black tees makes it as competitive as any course in this area. Although the greens were a bit inconsistent - some playing very quick and some playing slower than average - the course, as a whole, is worth the cost. The bent grass greens force you to really utilize your putting skills. I absolutely love the dog legs - which allow you to place your tee shots and set up approach shots. The second hole on the course gives you a chance to bypass a dog leg and drive the green through a small opening of trees. That was fun. Play was fast compared to other area courses. (Starter allows for 15 minute intervals). Staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs. Course is in very good shape for this time of year. Fairways are the best Ive played aside from Copperhead. Par 3s are great - none under 195 yards (from blacks) and force you to think about long irons versus fairway woods to reach greens because of humidity and heavy air. I had to decide between 4 woods and 4 irons on most long par 3s and par 5 approach shots to avoid hazards. Its great to hit into a 220+ par 3 forcing accuracy and distance (with green side bunkers and water awaiting you). Fairways are in excellent shape as well as tee boxes being flat and well maintained. If you want the challenge of a course that makes you really think about club selection, River Wilderness is that course. As always, you need to hit straight shots to avoid water hazards on the course. Sand is firm and easy to recover from. All in all, River Wilderness is a great course that you should put on your golf tour schedule while visiting the St. Pete/Sarasota golf scene. I will definitely play this course again before heading North for the summer. 5 stars definitely deserved. Thanks for the experience.

Comment: Course was a good value, nice layout. Greens weren’t in very good shape, but not many courses are in this price range. Staff was very friendly and helpful, it was my first time here. They had a putting and chipping green and free range balls to warm up off mats. It was nice not having to pay for balls to warm up before playing. It was busy and slow, which I didn’t expect playing in the middle of summer in the afternoon, but that and the greens were my only complaint, otherwise nice course.

Comment: So I hadn’t seen many reviews on this course before playing it, but wanted to at least share my experience to others who are considering playing here. The Pro Shop and staff are top notch. Talkative, helping, etc - they wanted to make sure I got a good round in. They also let me know that the ownership was changing hands on 1 June, and you could tell that the course does need some TLC,All of the tee boxes were ok, except for one that was complete sand. There were some bare areas around some of the greens too. The bunkers were fluffy and recently dragged. The fairways were being cut while I was there so you can tell they put time and effort into their fairways. The greens are going to be punched on 9 June, and they are well past needIng to be punched. Pits everywhere, some weeds, lumps, etc made my putts roll untrue.I believe that in about a month, this course will be pristine. Depending on the new owner, I know I’ll be back in a month to give it a try. It was really a nice track overall! Hit ‘em straight...especially on #2!

They made us feel welcomed, and we had awesome service!Its a beautiful place and you are looking right out at the golf course while dining or at the bar. I also like how its tucked away from busier areas around. You are nearby to everything else the area has to offer, but dont hear the chaos going on at all and feels like you are much further out in the middle of nowhere than you truly are.Highly recommend the community and country club!!
